Term 3 and Term 4: Transition / Orientation Program

We hold a very comprehensive transition / orientation program to ensure that your child will have a positive start to school.

Leap into Learning Transition Program

We are preparing to host your children on-site for their transition sessions.

Transition involves 6 different types of activity-

  1. Prep Sessions: Transitions with our prep teacher (Beth Rogers): in the prep classroom.

  1. Buddy Sessions: Next year your child will have a Year 5 buddy that supports them at school.

Term 4: all 2026 prep children attend Portarlington Primary to meet our buddies and participate in some fun activities.

  1. Specialist Sessions: Transitions with our Specialist Teachers for Art, STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths), and Physical Education- these sessions help your child with going to different learning spaces in school, learning from a different teacher and participating in different activities.

  1. Whole School Transition Session: with our prep teacher (Beth Rogers)- this session is longer in length and involves a play time break. Your child will be involved in routines for learning and also for break times such as eating their snack, putting their hat on and going outside to play with their buddies.

  1. Family Picnic: our school families get together for an after-school picnic and each class performs a song. It is one of the wonderful ways that our school families join in at our school.

  1. Parent and Carer Session: An evening session that will detail your child’s prep program for 2026.

  1. School Shirts

Your child will receive a special school shirt as part of our Leap into Learning Program. These will be handed out at the first session on September 4th, 2025.
